Bengaluru: A 19-year-old woman lodged an FIR of gang-rape and forced religious conversion at Channammana kere Achukattu police station in Bengaluru on Monday.
Acting on the woman's complaint, police have arrested one of the accused, identified as Shabeer Ahmad and launched a manhunt to nab his brother Mohammod Rilwan.
According to the girl's complaint, in 2018, she was working as a receptionist in a spa and during that time, Shabir frequently visits there and they came to know each other. Later, she left her job at the spa and joined as a receptionist at a hotel at Brigade Road with the help of Shabir.
In February 2019, Shabir's brother Mohamed Rilwan, who was in charge of the hotel where the victim was working, approached her to marry and kept physical relation with her.
The complainant has alleged that she was in a relationship with Rilwan. During this period, Rilwan “raped her repeatedly on the pretext of marriage”, the FIR said
When she asked him to marry her, Rilwan pressured her to denounce Hinduism and convert to Islam, the woman claimed in her FIR.
She added that after Rilwan pressured her to convert, he asked money from her and approached the victim to move to Dubai to get a good job there. Later, fled somewhere leaving her in Bengaluru, the FIR further said.
The victim also claimed that Rilwan married to another girl betraying her. Meanwhile, police have registered a case, arrested Rilwan's brother and launched a manhunt to nab the main accused.
