Bengaluru: A Bengaluru-based businessman on December 30 lost Rs seven lakh online while booking air tickets.
G.K.Vijay from Whitefield was trying to book a flight ticket to Thiruvananthapuram using a Clear Trip mobile application. Later, he received a text message saying the payment has not been received but he found Rs 6,95,282 lakh had been deducted from his HDFC bank account.
The next day, he called the ticket booking firm where a Deepak Kumar Sharma (ID No-522668) said he is unable to return the deducted amount due to technical snags and requested another bank account number.

Already suspicious, Vijay revealed only the last four digits of the account number and started receiving several OTPs for bank transactions.
He immediately moved to Whitefield Cyber Crime Police Station and lodged a complaint.
The Cyber Crime Police of Whitefield has started an investigation into the matter.
