Ranchi (Jharkhand): Former Bihar CM and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav is once again in controversy after getting a special chair from a mukhiya from Bihar's Vaishali district on Friday.
The matter came to light after ETV Bharat lens captured the Mukhiya carrying a special chair for Yadav which will be shifted to the paying ward of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here, where he has been staying on medical grounds.
When ETV Bharat asked Mukhiya about the chair, he denied taking questions. Later, he accepted that the chair was for Lalu.
"When I last spoke to him, Lalu ji asked me to bring a chair from Assam", said Mukhiya to ETV Bharat. Jail superintendent denied talking to ETV Bharat.
In 2018, the RJD supremo was sentenced to 14-year imprisonment, seven years each under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption Act in the fodder scam case. He was also slapped with a fine of Rs 60 lakh. The case pertains to the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 3.5 crore from the Dumka treasury by Animal Husbandry Department officials between 1991 and 1996 when Lalu served as the state's chief minister.
