Dumka: The Kurwa railway station in Dumka district of Jharkhand has no officials ever since it started functioning five years ago. There are no station master, no guard and unsurprisingly no tickets are sold here although there's a ticket counter in the station.
The railway station lies on the Jassidih-Dumka-Rampurhat line and was constructed in 2015 with the hope that it will come in handy for the locals.
The station is in a dilapapted state with the ticket counter being damaged by unknown miscreants. Also, the wires used for communication and tiles have been uprooted and missing from the station as there is no supervisor.

According to a local resident, "This is the new station but looks like an old one. All the things here are in pathetic condition. The handpump provided here is also not working. It seems someone has looted the belongings of railways from here. Someone should be appointed here to take care of the station."
Another resident of Kurwa said, when Indian Railways were pushing for the beautification and modification drive at various railway stations throughout the country, it should also take care of the basic services required at the existing railway station.
