Shocked over hubby's demise, wife of Army jawan allegedly ends life

In a state of shock after getting the news of her husband's untimely demise, an army jawan's wife, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well in Ranchi district's Baheratoli.

Ranchi: The wife of an Army Jawan, who died while on duty in Jammu, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well, in Ranchi district's Chanho police station limits on Wednesday.

Relatives of the jawan, Bajrang Bhagat, said they had spoken to him over the phone at around 10 pm on the night of December 29.

The following morning, however, they were informed that Bhagat was killed after he fell off his bed.

His mortal remains reached his village of Baheratoli late on Wednesday night.

The two had got married only two years ago.

Bhagat was the only earning member in his family, as his father had passed away earlier. He was serving in the Army's Guard Regiment since 2012. He is now survived by his mother.

According to the villagers, the final rites of both the deceased will be conducted together once the woman's post-mortem is completed.
