New Delhi: Former Union Minister and Jharkhand Congress President Rameshwar Oraon said that discussions were held with interim President Sonia Gandhi regarding an awareness drive on inculcating Congress ideology among the workers.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, the newly elected state president claimed that workers will be trained in ideological lessons before undertaking a membership drive to attract new blood into the Congress party.
"Training is being provided to grassroots workers regarding the ideology of Congress and the importance of its freedom struggle to create awareness among them," Oraon said.
Speaking on the reports of internal tensions within the state Congress, the former Union Minister said that discussions are being held with all leaders old and new to end the factionalism in the state Congress.
The Congress in Jharkhand was facing internal discord as warring factions in the state were demanding the removal of Dr Ajay Kumar from the post of state party president until he finally resigned on 23 August.
Last month, supporters of Alok Kumar and Subodh Sahay had locked horns at the state party headquarters and the party's senior leadership had summoned senior state leaders to the national capital in wake of the same incident.
Congress has already begun talks for grand Opposition in the state to take on the ruling BJP led by Chief Minister Raghubar Das. According to reports, the alliance will consist of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, RJD and left parties.
