New Delhi: Though considered a frontrunner for the post of the Jharkhand Congress President, Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader Dhiraj Sahu on Monday said he had no interest in becoming the state party chief.
Sahu said he would fulfil whatever responsibility the party chooses to give him, adding that he himself would meet the top leadership or write a letter to them explaining what kind of leader should be made the Jharkhand Congress chief.
Opining that the party should appoint someone who can take everyone into confidence and strengthen the Congress in Jharkhand, Sahu said the appointment of the new state party chief should not lead to factionalism.
"I hope that the high command makes such a leader the state party president, who is accepted by all," Sahu said.

Presently, Rameshwar Oraon, a minister in the Jharkhand government, is serving as the state Congress chief. However, it is the norm within the party for one person to hold only one post.
Hence, speculations have been rife that the party is set to get a new president in Jharkhand.
According to reports, Dhiraj Sahu was considered a frontrunner for the post, being a veteran Congress leader from Jharkhand. Sahu is also said to enjoy good relations with the top leadership, and a leader who understands the party organisation better than the others.
