Naxals enter Jharkhand from West Bengal posing as migrants amid corona-lockdown

A group of 15-20 naxals entered the state of Jharkhand from West Bengal's Birbhum district disguised as migrant workers.

Ranchi: Police in Pakur district of Jharkhand are on high alert after they reportedly received intel about the entry of nearly 15-20 naxals who advanced from West Bengal and reached Jharkhand posing as labourers amid the nationwide lockdown, a source said on Wednesday.

According to reports, the group of naxals traveled through the forest to reach maoist-affected Amrapara block in Pankur district. Further, this group included both men and women who journeyed from Birbhum district of West Bengal, a source said.

However, the state police have refuted the claim stating "We have no information regarding the presence of naxalites in Pakur district, yet we have begun combing operations after we received information of Naxals entering the state".
