Latehar (Jharkhand): A mentally ill woman was raped by an unknown person at a medical facility in Latehar, Jharkhand. The police have recovered a CCTV image of a man, who is believed to be the perpetrator in the case, fleeing the hospital facility.

After the local community raised questions about the lapses in security arrangements, the hospital management ordered an investigation into the incident.

The police have not divulged any more details about the case and said the investigation is underway. Meanwhile, it was learned that the authorities have finished the medical checkup of the victim.

A similar incident took place in Latehar around five years ago, wherein a mentally disturbed woman was raped and impregnated. However, the police failed to trace the criminal to date.

In connection with the issue, Civil Surgeon Dr Santosh Kumar Srivastava said the victim is being treated.
