Ranchi: A wedding in Jharkhand capital Ranchi was called off at the eleventh hour after the bride refused to marry the groom, who is said to be married already and has two children, sources said. It is learnt that the Muslim wedding was scheduled in the Doranda area of the capital Ranchi on Friday and was called off after the intervention of the local Anjuman Islamia.
According to the local sources, the marriage of the girl from Doranda Manitola of Ranchi was fixed with Asghar Khan, son of Halim Khan, a resident of Pathan Mohalla of Daltangj. However, on May 25, a day before the wedding, the people of Manitola came to know that the groom-to-be Asgar is a thug. The local residents and the girl's brother informed the team of Anjuman Islamia about the matter.

During the subsequent investigation by the Anjuman under the supervision of Dr. Tarikh Hussain, it came to light that Asghar is already married and is the father of two children. The family of the bride was shocked after they came to know that the accused is a drug addict and has also gone to jail in many cases including assault on his wife.
Given the seriousness of the matter, the asked the wedding procession which had reached Kudu in Lohardaga on Friday, to return home. It is learnt that accused Asgar had lied to the girl's family that he is working as a government employee. While the groom returned home without the bride, the latter has said that she will file a case against the accused for cheating so that the life of another girl is not ruined.
