Sahibganj (Jharkhand): In an encounter between the Jharkhand police and criminals on Saturday afternoon at Bodbandh village under Barhet police limits in Sahibganj district of the state, two police officers were critically injured.
According to sources, the Barhet police received a tip-off about notorious criminals of Bario area, who kidnapped a businessman recently.
Acting on the information, Barhet police station in-charge, Harish Pathak, ASI Chandraray Soren along with several policemen left for the spot to arrest the criminals. However, the criminals opened fire first to which the police retaliated.
Following which, inspector Pathak and ASI Soren were critically injured. The injured policemen have been admitted to the Sahibganj government hospital.
The cops duo was shifted to RIMS in Ranchi as their health condition deteriorated and are currently under treatment. Their health condition has been stated to be critical, sources said.
