Jharkhand: Policeman and informer killed in encounter

Two people including a policeman were killed in an encounter in Jharkhand's Chaibasa at Karaikela police station area on Sunday. According to DIG Rajiv Ranjan, the information about the movement of Naxalites was received on Sunday morning, after which the police personnel started conducting a search operation and inquiring the villagers of the area.

Jharkhand: 2 policemen killed in encounter

Chaibasa: Two persons, including a policeman, were killed in a gun battle that erupted on Sunday between the security forces and Naxals in Jharkhand's Chaibasa at Karaikela police station area.

Assistant superintendent of police Nathuram Meena's bodyguard Lakhindra Mundi and Rural SPO Surendra Swaroop Mahato were shot dead in the search operation conducted against the Naxals.

On receiving the information of the incident, West Singhbhum SP Indrajit Mahatha and Kolhan DIG Rajiv Ranjan Singh reached the spot immediately.

According to DIG Rajiv Ranjan, the information about the movement of Naxalites was received on Sunday morning, after which the police personnel started conducting a search operation and inquiring the villagers of the area.

During the search operation, the Naxals who were hiding nearby in a house started firing blindly.

After the encounter, the search operation still continued aggressively.
