Jharkhand: In a shocking incident, a couple was allegedly stripped and brutally thrashed by local residents at a village in Dumka district on Thursday.
According to reports, they were also forced to parade naked throughout the village.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Dumka Superintendent of Police YS Ramesh claimed that the couple were caught by the villagers.
"They were brought to Saraiyaha police station. During the investigation we recovered a video of the incident," Ramesh said.
Following the incident, the victims were given proper protection.
"In order to further probe the case, Sub Divisional Officer has set a camp in the village to take action against those seen in the video. Police will take strict action against all the accused," Ramesh said.
On being asked about the villagers' response toward the incident, he claimed that an FIR will be registered against them.
Further investigation is underway and the reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.
