Srinagar: Three militants were killed in an encounter in the New Colony area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a residential house was completely destroyed and another was severely damaged in the clash between the security forces and militants.
The army had received a verified report of the presence of militants in the area following which a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched in the area. During the search, militants hiding in the area opened fire on the army which resulted in an exchange of fire between the two sides.
Three militants were killed in the clash, including two local and one foreign militant.

Although three militants were killed in the clash, the house where the militants had taken refuge has completely collapsed while another house was severely damaged. Clashes between the militants and security forces in the Kashmir valley has led to property worth lakhs of rupees being severely damaged, while many houses have also been demolished.
These occurrences have led to many people becoming homeless.
