Two Pak intruders apprehended by Army along LoC in J&K's Poonch

Police said the questioning of the duo was in progress and it was not immediately clear whether they crossed the border inadvertently or with some intention. However, no incriminating material was recovered from their possession, they said.

Poonch (Jammu and Kashmir): A father-son duo from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was apprehended by the Army near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Saturday, police said. Sardar Abdul Hamid and his son Abbass of Polas village were nabbed by the troops in the Gulpur sector soon after they intruded into this side from across the border, police said.

They said the questioning of the duo was in progress and it was not immediately clear whether they crossed the border inadvertently or with some intention. However, no incriminating material was recovered from their possession, they said. On April 20, five soldiers were burnt to death in an army vehicle in the Batha Durian forest area of ​​Poonch. According to the army, the militants probably attacked the vehicle with a grenade. Following the attack, the army cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

In the initial footage of the incident, local youths were seen trying to evacuate the burning soldiers. The authorities sent a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to Poonch to investigate the incident. The road on which this incident took place was closed for three days. After the attack, the army cordoned off the entire area and started a search operation. During the last two weeks, the security forces called more than 200 people to the police station for questioning, out of which a dozen people were formally arrested.
