Srinagar: Kashmir Valley on Thursday witnessed the highest spike in COVID-19 deaths as nine patients passed away in three hospitals in Srinagar, taking the death toll to 114. 100 patients have died in Kashmir, 14 have passed away in Jammu region.
As per hospital authorities in Srinagar, today's COVID-19 deaths have taken place in SKIMS (4), SMHS (3) and one in Chest Disease hospital.
Authorities said that among the patients who died today due to the coronavirus, three persons belonged to Kulgam, two from Srinagar and one each from Shopian, Budgam and Baramulla districts. All these victims were aged between 55-75 years.
As per the official bulletin issued by the authorities on Wednesday, the COVID tally of infected persons in J&K has reached 7,695. Of the 4,856 patients have recovered – 1,166 from Jammu and 3,690 from the Valley.
The district-wise data of deaths shows that Srinagar has recorded highest deaths (27), Baramulla (18), Kulgam (16), Shopian (13), Anantnag (8), Budgam (8), Jammu (8), Kupwara (5), Pulwama (4), two in Doda, while Bandipora, Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur and Kathua have reported one death each due to the novel coronavirus.

While the number of common people in Jammu and Kashmir infected with the virus varies from day to day, security forces personnel including police, CRPF, army and BSF posted in Kashmir have also been infected.
On Thursday, 14 BSF personnel posted in Srinagar's Sanatnagar area have been tested positive in SKIMS, Bemina hospital, Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina Medical College told ETV Bharat.
