Qazigund youth bags first rank in JKSSB exam

Shakoor, who was raised single-handedly by his mother after his father passed away when he was in Class 5, secured 107.25 points out of 120. Though Shakoor expected his name in the list, the first position came as a pleasant surprise for him and his family.

Kulgam: The results of the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) Panchayat’s Accounts Assistant exam, declared on Friday, came as a surprise for 24-year-old Abdul Shakoor Itoo who topped the test.

Shakoor, who was raised single-handedly by his mother after his father passed away when he was in Class 5, secured 107.25 points out of 120. Though Shakoor expected his name on the list, the first position came as a pleasant surprise for him and his family.

Hailing from Damjan Qazigund area of Kulgam district, Shakoor said that the result has made him confident of his capacity and now he can now sit for any exam he wants.

Talking to ETV Bharat, the PAA topper said that it was his mother's relentless efforts and faith that he excelled in his studies and completed his bachelor's degree.

Shakoor has completed his primary and secondary education from a local school but due to the financial problems at home, he pursued his graduation in Kashmir University through distance learning.

"I lost my father at a very young age. So losing him also meant financial stress but my mother worked hard and did not let my education suffer. Despite her own struggle, she has stood behind me like a rock," he said.

"If you are determined enough to pursue a goal, then you can succeed in everything and fulfil your dreams. Students should keep themselves updated about the latest information and techniques so that they can succeed in any field," Shakoor added.
