Srinagar: Unidentified militants carried out a grenade attack on a Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF) unit in Saraf Kadal area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Sunday evening, injuring a cop and a civilian, officials said.
Police officials said that militants lobbed a grenade towards police and CRPF's 23rd battalion at Saraf Kadal in the evening, resulting in injuries to two persons. The injured have been shifted to the hospital where their condition is reported to be out of danger.
At about 7.20 pm, the terrorists hurled a grenade on the deployment of police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in the Saraf Kadal area of the city, a police official said.

According to police sources, the injured have been identified as police constable Mehraj Ahmad and a civilian, Sartaj Ahmad, a resident of Saraf Kadal.
The injured were shifted to the SMHS hospital, the official added. Police sources said that the assailants managed to escape.
Police say the area has been cordoned off and a search operation is underway to nab the attackers.
