Srinagar: Dozens of employees of the Power Development Department (PDD) held a vociferous protest against the government's decision to reportedly unbundle the organisation.

The employees warned the administration

At the PDD headquarters in Srinagar, the employees raised slogans against the move and warned the Jammu and Kashmir administration that protests will be intensified if their demands are not met.

The employees expressed that they strongly condemn the move and were united against the proposed privatisation.

Speaking to reporters, an employee said: "Even earlier, the previous governments had tried to privatise the department. Employees had unitedly protested against the move even then."

"After the protest, the government withdrew the proposal, we have proof of which in writing," he added.

The protesters further alleged that the process of privatisation has already begun discreetly, and the administration has issued tenders without taking the stakeholders on board.
