On August 6 when the Parliament cleared the resolution to withdraw Jammu and Kashmir's special status the stone-pelting incidents rose by three times more.

After the withdrawal of special status for Jammu and Kashmir, miscreants got active mostly in Srinagar, followed by Pulwama, Baramulla and Bandipore districts.

On August 25, a 42-year-old truck driver Noor Mohmmad Dar was killed when he was hit by a stone during a stone-pelting incident in Bijbehara belt of Anantnag district.
