NIA arrests two TRF Operatives after searches at multiple locations

Investigation in the case revealed that Pakistan based handlers of proscribed terror outfit LeT and their associates based in J&K had conspired to cause extensive terror activities for harming the general public.

Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency has on Sunday arrested two TRF Operatives in connection with a LeT-TRF Conspiracy Case. The investigation agency, with the assistance of CRPF and J&K Police, conducted searches at seven locations in Kulgam, Srinagar and Baramulla districts of J&K.

The case relates to the recovery of an IED from a Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist in Bathindi Jammu on 27 June 2021. A case was registered against the accused at the Police Station Bahu Fort District Jammu for indulging in terrorist acts in J&K. NIA later took over the case in July. Later, three LeT terrorists were arrested in the case.

Investigation in the case revealed that Pakistan based handlers of proscribed terror outfit LeT and their associates based in J&K had conspired to cause extensive terror activities for harming the general public.

"They had planned that responsibility for the terrorist activities so committed would be taken by the pseudo-acronym TRF so as to maintain plausible deniability and evade Law Enforcement Agencies," NIA said.

During the searches conducted today many digital devices including mobiles, pen drives, data storage devices and other incriminating materials were recovered by the agency.

Further investigation in the case underway.
