LeT commander involved in killing of CRPF jawans among 2 killed in Handwara encounter

LeT commander Naseer-u-din Lone was one of the two militants killed in the Handwara encounter held on Wednesday night. Police also recovered the AK-47 rifle that was snatched by militants from a CRPF personnel in May, from Lone.

Handwara (Jammu and Kashmir): One of the two terrorists, who was killed in an encounter in Handwara on Wednesday, has been identified as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Naseer-u-din Lone, said Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir.

Lone was involved in the killing of 3 CRPF jawans at Sopore on April 18, 2020, and 3 CRPF jawans at Handwara on May 4, 2020, according to IGP Kumar.

Kumar also said that the AK-47 rifle that was snatched by militants from one of the three CRPF personnel, has been recovered from Naseer-u-din Lone.

Kashmir Zone Police tweets about the encounter

Two unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces that began on Wednesday evening in the Ganipora Kralgund area of Handwara.

It ended at 9 o'clock and the bodies of the deceased were buried in Mjhal area of Kupwara.

In Shopian, one unidentified terrorist was killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and terrorists.
