Aniket reached Pahalgam along with his wife to start their pilgrimage on August 6, however on landing, security personnel asked them to return back immediately.

'When our chopper landed in Pahalgam, security forces asked me to return to Srinagar," Aniket said.

"Further, we were advised not to travel in the evening or at night," he added.

Speaking about the unrest situation prevailing in the valley, Aniket said that panic is spreading in the valley with people rushing to ATMs and petrol pumps.

CRPF constable Anuj Kumar who has returned from vacation, however, discarded the 'panic situation' as a mere rumour. According to him, the central government has taken the right step by calling off the Amarnath Yatra.

The Kashmir valley is in partial lockdown with massive deployment of troops and tightened security arrangements. All major entry and exit points of the city have been taken over by the Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPFs) with a token presence of local police.
