J&K: 4 JeM associates arrested in Awantipora

4 Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) associates were arrested in Awantipora of Jammu and Kashmir. According to the official, two arrested persons are residents of Bathen village in Pulwama's Khrew area.

Srinagar: Four associates belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit have been arrested in Awantipora area of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Tuesday.

"Acting on specific information security forces including the J&K police, Army's Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF in a joint operation laid a Naka near Awantipora crossing. During the course of checking four militant associates were arrested, a senior police official told ETV Bharat.

He said, "incriminating material was recovered from them which included JeM posters, cash, ammunition and explosive material. The four arrested persons have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Parray, Sheeraz Ahmad Dar, Shafat Ahmad Mir and Ishfaq Ahmad Shah."

According to the official, both arrested persons are residents of Bathen village in Pulwama's Khrew area.

"They were providing shelter and other logistic support to the JeM militants. A case (FIR no: 18/2020) under relevant provisions has been registered against them," the official said.
