"Two terrorists, who were eliminated in the encounter were affiliated to Al-Badr terror outfit," said Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar.
"Police received info about 2 terrorists hiding in Khanmoh area last night. With Army & CRPF, they cordoned off the area. They appealed to terrorists to surrender but on failure, encounter started today. 2 terrorists associated with Al-Badr terror outfit were killed. I congratulate Police, CRPF and Army for another successful and clean operation," he said.
Responding to a question on the militancy situation in Srinagar, he said, "Six militants were active in Srinagar of which one was recently neutralised during Kokernag (Anantnag) gunfight. Five local militants are still active in the district and they will be soon killed or apprehended."
"We are continuously receiving inputs regarding the movement of foreign militants in Srinagar but none of them has made Srinagar their area of operation," he added.
Speaking about the OGWs network in Kashmir, he said, "There is a vast network of OGWs active in Srinagar district... Several have already been arrested and booked under relevant sections. There are C-category OGWs who are being counselled and handed over their families."
