Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday shot down a drone and also recovered an improvised explosive device weighing 5 kg (IED) in the Akhnoor area. "A hexacopter drone was shot down by police in Akhnoor area. 5Kg IED was also recovered from the drone. It appears that the drone was being used to transport explosives to militants," a senior police official said.
He further said, "A case has been registered and it is being probed whether Lashkar e Toiba (LeT) is behind the drone activity and using this modus operandi for a terror attack as in previous cases."

This is not the first time a drone was spotted in the region. Several drones have been spotted at various locations in Jammu following the twin blasts at Airforce Station on June 27. On Wednesday, a suspected drone was spotted in the Satwari area, while earlier on July 16, a drone that was seen operating around the Jammu Air Base was picked up by the radars of the anti-drone system deployed by the National Security Guard (NSG) there.
Following the attack on the airbase last month, an anti-drone system was deployed in the city by the NSG. The Air Force had also taken measures to prevent any such attack in Jammu and other important airbases across the country. It has also taken strict measures to address threats from small drones.
