Srinagar: Two militants were killed on Tuesday in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, police said.
The gunfight broke out between the security forces and militants in Saimoh area of Pulwama's Tral, this morning and the search operation is still underway.
"A joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation after an input about the militants’ presence. As the search was being carried out, the hiding militants fired at the security forces, which retaliated, triggering a gunfight," Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar told ETV Bharat.
"Three militants have been killed so far and the search operation underway," he said.
The identity and affiliation of the slain militants are being ascertained by the police.
Meanwhile, internet services have been snapped in the area as a preventive measure.
