Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): Two associates of the terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) were arrested in Bandipora district of North Kashmir, police said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference, SSP Bandipora Rahul Malik said that the police had been receiving information for a long time that there were attempts to recruit youth in militant ranks in North Kashmir.
In this regard, the police arrested Abdul Majeed Khan, an over ground worker (OGW) of the JeM. Khan, who belongs to the Kralpura area, had been a militant in the past.
Following his interrogation, another OGW from Sopore -- Shaukat Ahmed, was arrested.

Malik said that Abdul Majeed was a hardcore upper ground worker who had been active for a long time.
According to the police, the two aides provided supplies and weapons to the militants, and Majeed's responsibility was to draw youth towards militancy in North Kashmir.
The police said a case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is underway.
