2 army soldiers injured in landmine blast in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri

Srinagar: Two army soldiers were injured in a landmine explosion in J&K's Rajouri district on Tuesday.

Police sources said two army soldiers identified as sepoy S.K. Minjur Rehman and sepoy Upadhya Prasad Rajindra sustained blast injuries while on duty in forward areas of Kalal in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.

"S.K. Minjur Rehman was airlifted to Udhampur base hospital while Upadhya Prasad Rajindra was shifted to army hospital in Rajouri", sources said.

Reports said the explosion injuring the two soldiers occurred when a landmine went off in the area the two were patrolling in.

Earlier, on June 19 Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Sunderbani sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district.

The ceasefire violation took place at 7:15 pm when Pakistan fired with small arms and intense shelling with mortars.

On Friday, three members of a family were killed when Pakistani troops shelled various forward areas and civilian places along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district. Pakistan army also shelled heavily the hamlets along the LoC in Khari Karmara sector. 

The local residents had also staged protests against Pakistan for frequently violating the ceasefire and targeting civilian areas.
