Una (Himachal Pradesh): Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Churudu village in Una district of Himachal Pradesh, became a millionaire overnight. Kumar won a whopping Rs 2.5 crore Punjab State Maa Lakshmi Diwali Pooja Bumper 2019 lottery.
Sanjeev who works as a painter, plumber, and electrician has been trying his luck by putting a lottery for the last three years, but this Diwali proved to be fortunate for him.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Sanjeev said he saw a lottery stall near Nangal bus station while he was returning from PGI medical institute at Chandigarh after getting his son checked.
Sanjeev then bought two lottery tickets of A and B series. One of these lottery tickets was picked by Sanjeev himself, while another one was chosen by his son. The ticket that his son chose hit the jackpot and Kumar won Rs 2.5 crore.
Sanjeev, who became a millionaire overnight, told that he has been taking care of his family by painting and whitewashing homes in the city. His family comprises of a daughter, a son, a wife, and a mother. While buying lottery tickets, he did not imagine his lottery ticket will win the grand prize.
Sanjeev got extremely happy on receiving a call from the lottery-vend, who told them that one of their tickets has hit the jackpot.
For a moment, Sanjeev could not believe his ears. He has not planned anything so far on what he would be doing with this money but would spend it on the education of daughter studying in fourth and son in the sixth standard respectively.
