Himachal Pradesh: The International Shivaratri Festival in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh is witnessing multifarious footfalls for the cow dung sandal which remain the center of attraction in the ongoing gala.
This intriguing sandal has been designed by the Vedic Plaster organisation of Rohtak, Haryana. The cow dung sandal has been given a unique and notable place in the stall of the Animal Husbandry Department at the International Shivaratri Festival.
Karan Singh, who wore the sandal at the International Shivaratri Fair, has named it Gomay Charan Paduka. According to Karan Singh, this sandal is helpful in obliterating problems like fluctuation of Blood Pressure and muscle strain. Apart from this, mental illness, restlessness and irritability can also be cured to an extent, Singh added.

In order to make this product,cow dung is filtered and natural oil is added to it. On drying, this oil mixed cow dung is given the shape of slippers through a machine.
According to Karan Singh, these slippers have been displayed in the stall just for awareness. Apart from cow dung slippers, there are many such biodegrdable products made of cow dung for example, shagun card, incense and diary which have always been in demand.
People arriving at the Mandi Shivratri fair are being hugely drawn towards these cow dung made products.
