Kullu (Himachal Pradesh): Rohtang pass in Himachal Pradesh was hit by fresh snowfall, which covered the mountains and the hilly roads.
Kullu district administration issued an alert urging local people and tourists not to go to the upper reaches of the district. The new Atal tunnel is an attraction among tourists visiting the area.
Moderate rainfall and strong winds swept the plains causing chill weather.
Kullu District Commissioner Richa Verma said there was heavy snowfall at the north and south portals of the tunnel. She said the road will be cleared soon and advised people to avoid venturing out.
The weather office has predicted scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall in the higher reaches of Shimla, Kullu, Chamba, Mandi and Sirmaur districts.
