Sushma Verma, Harleen Deol to play in women's IPL T20

The tournament will be held from November 4 to 9 during the ongoing IPL playoffs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Shimla: Two players from Himachal have been selected for the Women's T20 Challenge tournament starting November 4. Sushma Verma and Harleen Deol have been selected for this tournament which is to be held in Dubai. Sushma Verma of Shimla district and Harleen of Kangra district have also been part of the Indian cricket team. Sushma Verma is the wicketkeeper while Harleen Deol is a bowler and a batsman.

The Women's T20 Challenge is organized by the BCCI. This year the tournament was scheduled to be held at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur during the IPL playoffs in May 2020 but it could not be held due to the Corona epidemic. The tournament will be held from November 4 to 9 during the ongoing IPL playoffs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). There will be three teams in this tournament with a total of four matches and all these matches will be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Three teams have been selected for the third edition of the tournament. In this tournament, the IPL Supernova team will be captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, the IPL Trailblazers’ captain will be Smriti Mandhana and IPL Velocity team’s captain will be Mithali Raj.

Sushma Verma has got a place in the IPL Velocity team while Harleen Deol has got a place in the IPL Trailbreakers team. Apart from the Indian players, women players of Sri Lanka, South Africa, Bangladesh, New Zealand, England and West Indies are also participating in this tournament.

For the first time in this tournament, a player from Thailand has also got a place. On November 4, 5 and 7, the three teams will clash under the round-robin format and then on November 9, the final match will be played between the top two teams.
