New Delhi: The Haryana government has granted permanent relief in electricity tariff for agro-based industries and affiliated units by reducing tariff from Rs 7.50 per unit to Rs 4.75 per unit.
The state's decision will benefit Packhouse grading, Packing, Pre-cooling and ripening chamber, Honey Bee, Honey processing, Tissue culture, Zinga and Fish farming, Poultry farming, Pig farming, Milk chilling point and cold storage, Mushroom farming sectors of Haryana.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has informed about the decision to Union Minister for Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal via a letter.
The decision comes after the Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal requested the state CM to provide relief for the horticulture industry.
Harsimrat Kaur had written to the CM requesting for charging power tariffs on actual consumption basis instead of fixed charges for cold chain project industry that is currently facing acute liquidity crunch due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Apart from lowering tariff rates, Haryana has also waived off the fixed charges of non-domestic and industrial consumers for the month of March, April and May for those consumers where monthly consumption is 50 per cent or less than the average consumption in the month of January and February.
The government has also decided to wave off 25 per cent of fixed charges in the month of March, April and May if the monthly fixed charges are more than 40,000.
The remaining fixed charges will be recovered in 6 equal monthly interest-free instalments in the billing from July to December.
Haryana government also extended bill payment dates without late payment surcharge.
