Gir Somnath: As the coronavirus continues to creep across the country, people of Adri village in Gujarat's Gir Somnath district have made it compulsory for the residents to cover their head with an umbrella to maintain social distancing as a preventive measure against COVID-19 infection.
An average umbrella’s diameter being 4 feet, carrying it to cover one’s head automatically creates social distancing between persons. People were advised to maintain social distancing from the first day of lockdown.
Adri village found this unique way of maintaining social distance by making it mandatory for everyone to cover the head with an umbrella whenever outdoors.
It was the young sarpanch of Adri who mooted this unique idea which was welcomed by all the residents of the village. Whenever people go out of their homes to the market, they carry with them an umbrella to cover their head.
It is expected that people from other villages are also likely to follow suit.
