Rajkot (Gujarat): During the second wave of Coronavirus, several fatal diseases such as Mucormycosis or Black Fungus and MIS (Multi System Inflammatory Syndrome) were reported, Over 70 cases of Cardiomegaly have been reported in patients who have recovered from Corona in Rajkot, following the second wave. Also, this was observed mostly in 15 to 25 percent of those people who suffered coronary heart disease. Cardiomegaly, is a condition wherein the heart of those affected with the disease enlarges abnormally.
Thickening of the blood due to inflammatory response
Also there has been an incidence of post-Covid cardiac arrest among young people aged 30 to 45 years. However, these youngsters did not have the symptoms of a regular attack. It is actually the body's inflammatory response which is responsible for the coronary heart attack, wherein the blood clots, causing heart attack. Among other complications of Covid19, blood clots have been observed in some patients as the virus impacts the endothelial cells that line the blood vessels.

In Rajkot, Dr. Sandeep Harsora an ICU specialist from a private hospital told ETV Bharat that "Corona is not a disease that affects only the lungs, while blood coagulation often occurs during corona. The effect of blood is seen on various parts of the body. Many Corona patients currently are facing the issue of Cardiomegaly. These types of patients have also come to us, and we are referring them to Cardiologist."
