Surat: Man stabs daughter to death, attacks wife, enraged over trivial issue

The 19-year-old Chandkumari tried to save her mother from a knife attack by her father but she herself suffered over 17 stab injuries and died. It all began after her father flew into a rage when her mother asked him to agree for the family to sleep on the terrace. The accused has been angry with his wife over speaking on the phone for long durations, sources said.

Surat : For the Shahu family in Surat's Kadodara, a heated argument over the issue of sleeping on the terrace to beat the summer heat eventually led to the murder of a family member. The quarrel between the husband and wife over a trivial issue which resulted in the murder of their daughter by the father created a stir in the Kadodara police station limits.

A small fight over sleeping on the terrace, Ramanuj Mahadev Sahu (age 45) became very angry with his wife Rekhadevi (age 40). He grabbed a sharp weapon and tried to attack his wife but his daughter Chandkumari (age 19) came in between them. He did not stop and allegedly went on to stab her over 17 times leading to her death eventually.

The man also slapped his wife and three sons who are deaf and dumb. The Kadodara GIDC police have registered a case of murder and are probing further. Mahadev is a labourer hailing from Amarpur village in the Siwan district of Bihar. He along with his family members has been living in the Satyamnagar area of ​​Kadodara for a long time.

His three sons are Suraj (age 16), Dheeraj (age 14), and Vishal (age 12). Ramanuja works as a labourer in a mill. On Thursday night, his wife Rekha Devi asked him to sleep on the roof of the house as the heat was high. A quarrel started between the two regarding this matter. He left the house after the dispute with his wife. After a few minutes, he came back with a big sharp knife in his hand and was about to attack Rekhadevi, saying that he will kill her.

His daughter tried to prevent it but succumbed to his attack. His wife went to the roof of the building but Ramanuja went there and attacked her. She was also seriously injured. Three sons Suraj, Dheeraj and Vishal who came to the rescue were also injured. Then he disappeared from the scene. The injured were admitted to the hospital.

According to sources, the accused was angry that his wife was constantly busy on the phone. The police have arrested Ramanuja and are probing whether Ramanuja had also brought a knife from the market.
