Rajkot (Gujarat): Even as the increase in the number of Covid cases is causing panic among the people of the city, Rajkot police commissioner Manoj Agrawal has issued a phone number and made arrangements to donate plasma of policemen who have recovered from COVID-19.
371 policemen had tested Covid positive
To date, as many as 371 policemen of Rajkot tested Covid positive. They include DCP, PI, PSI, head constable and constable besides the Lok Rakshak cadets. Most of them have fully recovered and are back on duty and are donating plasma for the treatment of other coronavirus patients. Various organisations of Rajkot too, are providing services to Covid patients. The police commissioner has appealed to the public to call PSI M N Borisagar on 8980041411 if in need of plasma for the treatment of Covid patients.

Some of the policemen’s antibody did not match
When contacted, PSI M N Borisagar said till now 14 policemen who recovered from coronavirus have donated their plasma. Policemen are continuing to donate plasma but only 50 per cent of them can donate their plasma at the moment because their antibodies do not match as they had turned Covid negative a long time ago. He said at least six policemen are voluntarily donating their plasma every day.
