New Delhi: Congress leader Randeep Surjewala on Thursday attacked the BJP-led NDA government's conduct and accused it of having a lackadaisical attitude towards the safety and security of the nation.
He said that the Congress had extended its full support to the Indian Army and the government in any action against those who sponsor terror in the country. However, he questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's conduct.
Surjewala alleged that the PM made tall claims of being true nationalists but the reality came to fore when he was busy shooting for a film instead of immediately condemning the incident and holding a cabinet meeting over the major intelligence failure.
While talking to ETV Bharat, he said, "The attack was done at 3:10am, all TV channels telecasred it at 3:15am, Congress reacted at 5am but the PM was busy shooting a film to showcase his work till 7am." Surjewala said the PM mocked at the soldiers' martyrdom by making their bodies wait for hours.
He added that the PM could spend crores of rupees over his foreign tours but few lakhs could not be spent to provide an airlift to those soldiers.
He also accused the PM of having dual standards as on one hand, he talked about giving a befitting reply to Pakistan and on the other, he talked about holding comprehensive talks with the country.
Reacting to Surjewala's allegations, the BJP said that the Congress was politicising the issue for its benefits.
