Delhi court rejects Tahir Hussain's bail plea

Bail plea of suspended AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain, who is accused of murdering an IB official and hatching conspiracy for communal riots in northeast Delhi, has been rejected by Karkardooma Court.

New Delhi: A local court on Monday rejected the bail plea of suspended AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain, who is accused of killing IB officer Ankit Sharma during Delhi communal riots in February last.

Additional session judge Vinod Yadav of Karkardooma Court rejected his plea for bail after hearing the matter for two days.

Delhi Police had filed two charge sheets against Hussain in the case related to communal violence during protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in northeast Delhi in February.

The charge sheets were filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including 147 and 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly) and 34 (common intention). He was chargesheeted in the IB official's murder case and another one related to rioting in February.

Hussain was booked under the stringent anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in a case related to alleged conspiracy in the northeast Delhi riots.

Communal clashes had broken out in northeast Delhi on February 24 after violence between citizenship law supporters and protesters spiralled out of control leaving at least 53 people dead and around 200 injured.
