New Delhi: The Crime Branch of Delhi police has filed a chargesheet on Wednesday in connection with the murder case of Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma, and named suspended AAP councillor Tahir Hussain in the new chargesheet, stating that he "led the mob from his house and also from the Masjid near Chand Bagh Pulia on 24th and 25th February 2020 and gave it a communal colour".
As per the chargesheet, Ankit Sharma's murder was well-planned, and he was stabbed to death by a mob of 10 men led by Tahir Hussain.
A witness had made a video of the whole incident in which few men are seen dumping the body in a drain. The video helped the Crime Branch in solving the case, the police said.
“Investigation has revealed that there was a deep-rooted conspiracy behind the riot and murder of Ankit Sharma, who was a familiar face in the area. He was specifically targeted by a mob led by Tahir Hussain, former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain ,” added the police.
On February 25, IB officer Ankit Sharma was brutally murdered during the north-east Delhi violence. His body was recovered from a drain in the Chand Bagh area on February 26. The postmortem report revealed that 51 sharp injury marks were found on Ankit’s body.
Blood-stained knives along with stained clothes of the killer were recovered by the police during the investigation. As many as ten people, including Tahir Hussain were arrested in connection with the case.
"Whoever is involved in the murder of my brother should get the death penalty," Ankit Sharma's elder brother Ankur Sharma said.
