New Delhi: A patient suspected of having the novel coronavirus has reportedly committed suicide at the Safdarjung hospital in Delhi. According to reports, the patient escaped the isolation ward and jumped off the hospital building.
The man was brought by the airport authorities as a coronavirus suspect and was immediately put in the isolation ward, hospital sources said.
His samples had been taken and sent for testing, they said, adding the reports are awaited. Following this, he forced open the isolation ward and jumped off the seventh floor of the building.
"A person died after falling from upper floor of Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital. We are yet to confirm if he is a COVID-19 patient or not," Safdarjung Hospital PRO Dinesh Naryan said.
The 35-year-old man was a resident of Punjab and had complained of headache and was taken to hospital on his return from Sydney, Australia.
