Stranded due to lockdown, laborers make home at a flyover

Stranded due to the sudden imposition of the nationwide lockdown, migrant workers in Delhi have made the flyover going from Delhi's Ashram to Nizamuddin Basti their home.

New Delhi: Dozens of people can be sitting and lying around on the sidewalks of the flyover going from the Ashram in Delhi to Nizamuddin Basti. One would think that these people are temporarily resting but that's not it. These homeless people have made this flyover their home.

Ever since the lockdown began, some new workers who were returning home by mass migration but were sent back from the border, have also taken up residence here.

Many of these people told ETV Bharat that the only reason for choosing the flyover was that at the flyover they were in view of the public and thus get something to eat.

Although the police tried to send them to temporary accommodations several times, they came back after seeing the crowds and food there.

Among the crowd here, there are many, who are addicted to drugs. These people lying around on the streets in a drugged state and eat the food provided by the charities.
