New Delhi: As the holy month of Ramadan is moving ahead with full religious fervor and zest, Delhi's Jama Masjid area markets are witnessing dates spillover. Shops in this part of the national capital are these days laden with different varieties of dates, most sought after eatable during Ramadan.
Jama Masjid market is adorned with mouth-watering delicacies of all kinds especially the dates that are the peculiarity of Ramdan festivity.
These days a whole range of dates can be seen in around Jama Masjid area market.
Alimuddin, who runs a date shop outside Jama Masjid, gladly showed different varieties of the fruit that he had in his shop. Amber, Alamdina, and Gulabjamun are a few in demand in this festival.
"However, this time the trade of dates is a bit low," Alimuddin said.
The costliest date that one of the shopkeepers presented was worth Rs 300 per kg.
Ramadan means fasting for one complete month for cleansing one's body of toxins inside, physically as well as morally. It's not just about restrictions from indulging in bad eating and drinking habits but also keeping oneself away from immoral and societal ills and reorienting the followers towards a more positive way of living.
