New Delhi: A delegation from the Sikh community met Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy in New Delhi on Tuesday demanding the imposition of anti-conversion law in Jammu and Kashmir. This comes after two Sikh girls were allegedly abducted, forcibly converted and married off to middle-aged men in Jammu and Kashmir. The delegation led by Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Akal Takht, submitted a memorandum to Reddy demanding an anti-conversion law be imposed in Jammu and Kashmir like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The delegation, including Jago Party President Manjit Singh GK and BJP leader RP Singh, sought the law requiring mandatory consent of family members in inter-religious marriages in Jammu and Kashmir. The delegation said that the move is important in the backdrop of possible 'love jihad' practice in the region following the absence of government in the region under present circumstances.
