New Delhi: In a major setback to Kiran Bedi, the Supreme court today refused to interfere in the Madras High Court order which had directed her to take decisions with the advice of the council of ministers and not independently.
The bench led by the Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, disposed of the petition of the Lt. Governor of Puducherry, Kiran Bedi, who had sought clearance for the powers of the administrator and the government.
The Chief Minister of Puducherry, V Narayanswamy and Kiran Bedi have been at loggerheads since 2016 when Bedi had taken charge.
On a petition, the Madras High court had clarified that the administrator could not work independently and it was different than Delhi.
It was alleged that in Puducherry two parallel governments were running.
