New Delhi: Days after Pakistan PM Imran Khan wrote a congratulatory letter to his Indian counterpart on his re-election, PM Modi has now responded to his letter.
Similarly, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar has also responded to his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi's letter as well.
The Ministry of External Affairs said, "As per the established diplomatic practice Prime Minister Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar have responded to the congratulatory messages received from their counterparts from Pakistan, highlighting that India seeks normal and cooperative relations with all neighbours, including Pakistan.'
In his letter to the Pakistani Prime Minister, Modi said, 'It is important to build an environment of trust; free of terror, violence and hostility.'
The External Affairs Minister also emphasized the need for an 'atmosphere free from the shadow of terror and violence.'
However, the External Affairs Ministry has rubbished Pakistani media reports of PM Modi agreeing to hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart.
"This is absolutely incorrect. PM and EAM responded to the congratulatory messages as per the established practice of responding," External Affairs Ministry said.
Since the return to power, the Modi government has been snubbing Pakistan. Despite PM Imran Khan's request for talks at the SCO, India didn't reciprocate. Only pleasantries were exchanged between both the leaders.
