New Delhi: The political battle between BJP-led civic bodies and the AAP-ruled Delhi government has intensified with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) accusing the Kejriwal government of discrepancy in Covid deaths, claiming that over 35,000 death certificates were issued in April and May.

North Delhi Mayor Jai Prakash told ETV Bharat that in April and May, 35,478 people were issued death certificates by the MCD, while the issuance of death certificates to 1,255 people is still pending.

Prakash also said that the Delhi government is politicising the issue by showing increased death rates, on one hand, and later misleading the residents of Delhi by understating it.

He said the Delhi government has a financial capacity of Rs 70,000 crore but still, no facilities are being provided to the people of Delhi.

Though the Opposition parties have been raising questions about the COVID-19 figures and death rate in the national capital, there has been no response from AAP on these allegations so far.
