New Delhi: Accusing the BJP-led central government of "destroying the constitutional institutions, indulging in unfair politics, not doing enough to contain coronavirus pandemic and misusing public funds to further their agenda", CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Wednesday said it should inform the nation on how 'PM CARES Fund' was being utilized.
Talking to ETV Bharat here, Yechury said thousands of crores of rupees were donated for the 'PM CARES Fund' and the government must tell how the money was being spent.
The Left party leader wondered if the amount was being used to weaken the non-BJP ruled state governments.
"Is this fund being utilized to weaken the state governments," he asked.
Yechury also blamed the union government for "weakening and destroying" the constitutional structure of the country, saying it was being done to further the "agenda of communalism" of the BJP.
"Parliament, Supreme Court, Election Commission, CBI, ED are being weakened," he alleged, adding that the entire constitutional structure of the country is being pull down.

The Left party leader also slammed the government for having failed in providing any meaningful help to the people who lost their jobs and businesses during the pandemic.
"The national lockdown was announced without any prior notice (in March). Over 15 crore people lost their jobs and the unplanned imposition of restrictions created unprecedented hardships for millions of people across the country," he said, demanding that Rs 7,500 must be given all who lost their jobs and businesses and are surviving only on donations by the people around them every month for the period of next six months.
Stressing that India has surplus wheat and other grains, which are getting destroyed in godowns, he said the government should supply 10 kg of wheat every month for the next six months to all affected families.
Yechury said the Narendra Modi also failed to handle the coronavirus as the number of tests that are being done every day are far less than required.
"We have been asking it to increase the testing but it has failed to do so," the CPI (M) leader said, adding that is why we had to organise the protest against it between 20 to 26 August.
Reacting to the government's go-ahead to hold the JEE and NEET competitive examinations, Yechury said: "it's highly irresponsible on the part of the government".
He asked when restrictions are again being imposed in many parts of the country in view of rising numbers of the coronavirus cases how students will be able to appear for the examinations.
"There are several other ways to save the academic year of the students," he said, adding that the government must listen to the demands of the students and their family members who want the same to be postponed.
