New Delhi: Many brave warriors sacrificed their lives for India's victory during the Kargil War in 1999. One such warrior whose name is taken with pride is Captain Anuj Nayyar from Janakpuri.
Captain Nayyar was in the 17th Battalion of the Jat Regiment during the Kargil War, Nayyar was given the responsibility to eliminate the Pakistani troopers from a point at the Tiger Hill. He alone killed nine Pakistani soldiers before getting martyred.
Nayyar was the only official who was posthumously awarded the nation's highest gallantry award, the Mahavir Chakra for accomplishing his task at the age of 24 years.
The tricolour clad Captain Nayyar's funeral procession was attended by hundreds of people who bid the final adieu to the martyr with a heavy heart.
